Gas vs Gasless Mig Welding [VIDEO]

MIG welding (also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding) is a process whereby a continuous solid wire electrode is fed through a welding gun and into the weld pool, joining the two base materials together.

The MIG process provides great flexibility, with the ability to weld almost any metal, allowing for most types of fabrication and maintenance or repair. It is fast, economical, and produces results that will meet the needs for most manufacturing and fabrication needs.

One of the best things about MIG welding is that it is a relatively simples process to learn, with most people able to achieve a reasonable level of competency with basic training.

What is the best MIG welding gas?

If you plan on using MIG welding in your next project you will have the choice of two options - Gas or Gasless.

There are a number of factors to consider when choosing between Gas Welding or Gasless MIG Welders, including the desired application, where the welding will be performed, the required weld quality, weld appearance and of course the cost.

In this episode of the Blackwoods Counter Talk series, we explore the differences between Gas Shielded Mig Wire and Gasless Mig Wire and the key considerations to be made to ensure you make the right choice for your next job.
