A Giant Step for Indigenous Literacy With New KingGee Blaze Boot Range

KingGee has been part of Australian history since 1926, creating workwear known for its quality and craftsmanship. Now with the release of its new range of Blaze boots, KingGee is again providing Aussie workers with safer, more comfortable boots, while also helping to improve Indigenous literacy.

The Blaze boots are a collaboration between KingGee and indigenous author and artist Sally Morgan, featuring indigenous designs by Morgan on the sole and tongue of the shoes. The colours and shapes reflect her links to the Palyku people in the eastern Pilbara.

Sally’s autobiography exploring her Aboriginal heritage and family history won the inaugural Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission humanitarian award in 1987, as well as the West Australia Week literary award for non-fiction in 1988. She is also a nationally recognised artist who has held numerous exhibitions, with her paintings found in major collections, including the Australian National Gallery.

A portion of all sales from every pair of the boots goes to The Indigenous Literacy Foundation, an organisation which helps encourage indigenous children to read by supplying books to children in remote communities.

The new KingGee Blaze boots helps Aussie workers stay safer, feel more comfortable, look great and contribute to improving indigenous literacy.
